The massive project saw some 50,000 tonnes of sand at a time sprayed into the infill area by the giant dredging vessel, Pearl River. The sand was dredged from the seabed of the Irish Sea in the Morecambe bay area and the vessel worked round the clock moving 3 loads every day.
Following completion of the infill, Manx Independent Carriers provided transport services to Ramsey Steamship Company for removal of the dredging equipment and pipework.
