Manx Independent hit new heights for Christmas Parcels

6th January, 2014

Now we are over the Holiday period and back to normal, we have had chance to sit back and analyse our performance in December.

On the busy run up to Christmas 2013 Manx Independent Carriers shipped over 65,000 parcels in December averaging some 3862 parcels each and every day. This volume compares favourably with recent years but is massively increased when compared to say 5 years ago. At peak we were operating 26 van runs delivering throughout the Island.

This growth stems mainly from Internet Shopping with huge volumes emanating from internet giant AMAZON as well as other retailers such as Apple, Sports Direct, Next and John Lewis to name but a few.

Despite appalling weather in December which caused numerous delays to ferry sailings we managed to achieve a better than 98.5% success rate with our deliveries and by Christmas Eve we only had a small amount of parcels remaining undelivered most of which were to businesses which had shut down early for the Christmas Holiday.

Our thanks go to our hardworking staff, many of whom regularly worked 12 hour shifts and gave up their weekends to ensure that Christmas happened for our customers.
