The Mona's Queen anchor memorial service will take place on May 29
7th May, 2014
The Mona's Queen anchor memorial service will take place for the third year running at Port St Mary's Kallow Point at 6.30pm on May 29. The event, held in the past during the day, has been moved to the evening to enable more people to attend after work.
Manx Independent Carriers arranged transport of the anchor from Dunkirk to Cammell Lairds Shipyard at Birkenhead where the Mona's Queen was built and where the anchor was treated to preserve it. The anchor was then collected by us and shipped to the Isle of Man on board the Steam Packet vessel Ben My Chree to arrive in Douglas on Monday 31st November 2011 to be greeted by a reception party which included the Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood, Captains Hamish Ross and Jack Ronan and various other dignitaries.
