St Georges through to IOM Cup Final
27th March, 2010
St Georges Captain, Sean Quaye picking up the FA Cup in 2008
Our sponsored team, St George's and St Mary’s clashed at the Bowl today, Saturday 27th March in the IOMFA semi-final of the FA Cup and booked their place in the final for the 3rd year in a row, having won the cup in 2008 and 2009.
St Marys made a good start in the second half and scored to go
1-0 ahead
However, their advantage was shortlived when Calum Morrissey responded with an equalizing driving shot over the St Marys goalkeepers head.
The current champions then went ahead when Chris Bass junior scored from a penalty following the St Marys goalkeeper fouling Calum Morrisey in the penalty box. Geordies sealed victory through Lee Bass to go 3-1 and gain revenge for league defeats home and away to St Mary’s earlier in the season
In the Easter Monday final, St Georges go on to face Rushen who beat Peel, 1-0 today.
