St Georges favourites for Premier League Title

25th February, 2013

Current Champions, St George’s took another step towards retaining the Canada Life Premier League title with another fine win on Saturday 23rd February.

Geordies won 11-1 at Gymns AFC's Tromode pitch to further extend their lead at the top of the league by five points with games in hand.

Ciaran McNulty returned to haunt his old club with some of the goals and goals from Chris Bass, Calum Morrissey and Frank Jones added to the tally.

Shock result on Friday night at Mullen y Cloie saw second place team St Johns beaten 2-1 by 8th placed Corinthians. St Johns controversially have sought to buy their way into the Island Games in this summers event in Bermuda. The IOMFA have said they can go but will not be allowed to represent the Isle of Man so it looks like the idea is a non starter. Other athletes have criticised the decision of the IOMFA saying that the opportunity to represent the Island has to be earned by diligence, training and qualification.
