Roadworks to cause disruption for 5 weeks
24th September, 2012
Main Road in Onchan will be shut to traffic from Thursday, September 27th from Avondale Road to Summerhill Road.
Road works will include footway reconstruction and ducting installation for new traffic signals and are expected to last for five weeks.
Meanwhile, major maintenance work will start on Ballacottier roundabout on Cooil Road, Braddan, on Monday, October 1.
This work will include the reconstruction of the carriageway as well as the roundabout itself as these have both failed.
The roundabout carries a significant number of heavy goods vehicles, which have mounted the roundabout and damaged it. This can only be attributed to poor initial design on a road which was designed as an outer link road to take traffic, especially HGV's away from the town.
