New Meat Processing Plant for Isle of Man
26th July, 2011
William and Lynda Christian have proposed to build a new meat processing plant at their Ellerslie Farm and say they want to provide the local industry with some healthy competition.
Thy claim the existing Isle of Man Fatstock plant at Tromode is ‘incapable of providing a cost-effective service to Manx producers and retailers’.
Earlier this year, it was announced that up to 15 jobs would be lost at the Tromode meat plant which has made significant losses and has been facing challenging times with the withdrawal of the meat derogation at the end of last year.
