The Retail Prices Index (RPI) increased between mid June and mid July to stand at the same value as at July last year, so producing a 0% annual rate of inflation. This compares with the -0.9% rate recorded in June.
The rate of inflation excluding housing costs was 2.6% as shown by the RPI.
An alternative measure of price changes is given by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI).The rate of inflation shown by the CPI increased to 1.0% in July from 0.5% in June.
