Manx Independent Carriers investment in new vehicles
6th March, 2012
Pictured above are three brand new MAN TGS tractor units being handed over to John Jones, Managing Director of our UK subsidiary, Walter Edmundson (Haulage) Ltd. These vehicles will compliment our existing fleet which consists almost entirely of MAN trucks.
These additions bring the total number of 44 tonne tractor units available within our fleet to 14.
This major investment is a not only a committment to our service and customers but also to the environment. These vehicles are equipped with engines which have exhaust limits to the new Euro 5 legislation. Whilst Particulate Matter (PM) limits remain the same as for Euro 4 (0.03 g/kWh), Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) limits are reduced by some 43% - from 3.5 to 2.0 g/kWh.
When it comes to emissions reduction, MAN has been a pioneer - in both Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technologies. For a number of years now MAN has designed, manufactured and operated both systems successfully for use on Europe’s roads. MAN’s successful utilisation of both technologies in their latest Euro 5 and EEV engines means that the company is ideally placed for the introduction of Euro 6 in 2014.
Our continuous investment programme in new vehicles and equipment is beyond comparison, no other Isle of Man freight operator invests regularly in new assets in this way in order to improve service, reliability and image but still retaining a competitive edge.
