Isle of Man postal workers vote in favour of strike action
16th March, 2011
Manx postal workers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking strike action over a pay dispute with IOM Post.
For the first time, a secret strike ballot of members of the Communication Workers Union at IOM Post was held. 84 per cent voted in favour of action on a turnout of 85.5 per cent.
The CWU represents 250 Manx postal workers who say they have an agreement to share in IOM Post's profits but Management claim they are tied to the current public sector pay freeze.
More news is awaited as to what form strike action will take and when.
Manx Independent Carriers will offer a service for businesses in the event that a strike takes place.
