Isle of Man Post dispute

22nd February, 2011

Postal workers on the Isle of Man are to hold their first ever strike ballot, in a row over pay. The Communication Workers Union said its 270 members will vote on whether to launch industrial action following an impasse over their pay rise.

Union officer Terry Pullinger said: "We've done absolutely everything we could to settle this and avoid a dispute, but there's just been no movement at all from the Isle of Man Post Office."

IOM Post say that there is no written agreement to increase pay this year despite the Unions stating that they have an agreement. The CWU have now admitted that they are unable to locate such a document and the saga continues.

Any Postal strike will have no effect on the services of Manx Independent Carriers and should a strike occur, we are well placed to pick up and handle the expected increase in parcel traffic.
