Isle of Man Natural Gas pipeline project
9th September, 2010
Manx Independent Carriers are pleased to have been awarded the contract for transport of some 40 kilometres of gas pipe and associated fittings for the extension to the Islands natural gas distribution network.
NATURAL gas is to be extended to 6,500 homes and businesses in the north, west and south of the Isle of Man.
Tynwald voted overwhelmingly in July this year to spend £23.5 million on pipelines to channel natural gas to all areas of the Island currently using the town's gas network, after Manx Gas warned the network would become obsolete within five years.
This new extension to the network will lead to a 30 per cent reduction in gas bills for gas customers in Ramsey, Peel, Port St Mary, Port Erin, Castletown, Ballasalla, Colby and Ballakillowey.
Once again, the professionalism, expertise and project management skills of Manx Independent Carriers has shown through above our competitors as we embark on this prestigious venture and of course the contract award is line with the Manx Governments "Buy Local" policy.
