IOM Film Festival 2012
17th September, 2012
THE Isle of Man Film Festival 2012 was hosted for three days from Friday 14th September by the MannIN Shorts film scheme.
MannIN Shorts co-founders Dave Armstrong, Christy De Haven and Phil Gates have been involved with the Isle of Man Arts Council’s festivals before, but they have previously only hosted the opening night of the event.
‘When we heard there wasn’t going to be a film festival this year, we decided to put a proposal in to the Arts Council to run something through MannIN Shorts,’ explained Dave.
Guests included filmmaker Danny Lacey, actor Raffaello Degruttola (Saving Private Ryan, Quantum of Solace), actor Lee Boardman and Phil Hawkins, who has been described by Steven Spielberg as ‘one of the best new and upcoming young directors’.
Then the final night will be entirely ‘homegrown’. MannIN Shorts films I Do and Hide & Seek will be revealed, as will scenes from Closet and hopefully the freshly-shot Manx language short film Solace in Wicca.
Manx Independent Carriers have been pleased to provide assistance with transport for several of the films which were shown over the weekend.
