Graylaw / Mezeron container service comes to an end.

9th February, 2011

The Manx rumour mill is coming to the conclusion that the much vaunted and heralded Liverpool to Douglas container service is due to fold on Friday 19th February 2011

Both the container vessels Kalana and Kurkse are being offered for charter from the above date on the Redereit Otto Danielsen ship owners web site:

There are also rumours that the Mezeron quayside dock workers in Douglas have been given notice that their employment is due to end next week.

Claims from the shipping line that the service was being provided to satisfy "increased demand for a sea container service" were obviously unfounded and untrue and once again the apparent failure of the service is proof that there is insufficient freight traffic to the Isle of Man to sustain two shipping lines.

Manx Independent Carriers remain committed to providing the best, most efficient, cost effective service between the UK and the Isle of Man
