Container vessel suffers engine problem
10th November, 2010
Mezeron’s chartered container vessel, Kalana got into difficulties when her engine failed as she departed Douglas harbour for Liverpool at about 1.30pm on Wednesday 10th November.
The Estonia-registered Kalana needed the assistance of the Laxey Towing Companys tug Wendy Ann and the pilot boat Girl Mary after sustaining a mechanical problem.
Harbour director Captain Michael Brew said: ‘There was a bit of a flurry. It was an unfortunate glitch but she left within half an hour.’
The Kalana is one of the pair of Estonian-registered vessels brought in by Mezeron to operate its new cargo container service launched last month in competition with the Steam Packet.
