Chaotic weekend of weather
28th January, 2013
Friday evening 25th January turned into a memorable one for all the wrong reasons when a foot of snow fell in just over an hour, causing chaos on both directions of the M6 in Lancashire near to our Skelmersdale depot.
Drivers were stuck for up to 10 hours as snow brought one of Britain’s busiest motorways to a grinding halt and Police and Mountain Resuce teams were called into action to rescue stranded motorists.
Three of our own trailers were unable to reach Heysham for that nights sailing but fortunately by the next morning the roads had been cleared sufficiently for traffic to start moving again. Because this happened over the weekend there have been no noticeable delays to freight to the Island although on Saturday there were no UK Newspapers available.
