Channel Islands container ship aground on maiden voyage

Channel Island shipping company Huelin Renouf Shipping Limited's new freight ferry ran aground on her maiden voyage near the Island of Alderney, one of the Channel Islands on Friday 21st September.

The 88.6 m freight ferry 'Huelin Dispatch' touched ground SW of Alderney, while on costal passage from Southampton, UK, and was holed in the aft section. After the crew carried out damage control the ship was floated off and headed for drydock in Falmouth.

The owners confirmed that crew and cargo were safe and sound.
