Bad weather forces cancellation of sailings

24th May, 2011

The Steam Packet vessel Ben my Chree and fast craft Mannanan were kept in port yesterday, Monday 24th May, due to winds gusting to 70mph in the Irish Sea.

The Ben My Chree finally sailed to Heysham last night (Monday), but was unable to dock in the port because of the high winds and had to return to Douglas.

Rumours that there may be problems with a bow thruster have not been confirmed by the Steam Packet.

With calmer weather today, Tuesday, sailings are back to normal and both vessels departed on time.
