24 Hours of rain causes localised flooding

25th September, 2012

Vehilce drivers are being urged to drive with care today following heavy and persistent rain overnight.

Road conditions are reported to be poor – especially on the minor roads.

There is a lot of standing water and some pools have turned out to be several feet deep and unsuitable for vehicles to drive through.

Police say it is impossible to check all roads around the Island and are encouraging drivers to be extra careful and avoid any large puddles.

There are large amounts of standing water on the Cronk y Voddy straight and the Peel Coast Road is said to be bad in places. The Creg na Baa back road, Lonan Old Church Road and Tholt Y Will Road from the Mountain Road to Sulby have been closed completely.
