SITA Isle of Man

SITA Isle of Man is a wholly owned subsidiary of SITA UK, Europe's largest waste management company. SITA operate over 40 energy from waste plants in Europe as well as managing, recycling, collection and disposal contracts for local authorities, industry and commerce.

The Island's EfW facility is a power station that produces electricity using household waste as the fuel instead of using fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil. The facility will treat 60,000 tonnes of municipal waste in the primary incinerator, and up to 5,000 tonnes of clinical, animal, and oil waste in the secondary incinerator. This produces 10% of the island's electricity.

SITA use Manx Independent’s Specialised Services team to transport the hazardous by-product APCR from the Isle of Man to England for further recycling, utilising a specialised articulated powder tanker capable of carrying 23 tonnes of APCR.

Manx Independents Specialised Services Team is specially trained in the transportation of dangerous goods by road and sea. In addition to the outbound waste we also carry lime to the Island for use at the EfW plant.

With 3,800 employees and 20 locations across the UK over a suite of subsidiaries and brands, AAH is the country's leading distributor of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and services to pharmacies, hospitals and doctors. Making over 100,000 deliveries a week and with over 20,000 products stocked, AAH is the largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in the UK.

Manx Independent provided daily overnight groupage and full load services to AAH. Collecting from their Distribution Centre in the Midlands and delivering the following morning to their Isle of Man Stores

Hospice Isle of Man

Hospice Isle of Man is a registered charity that started in 1983. We are privileged to have His Excellency Lieutenant Governor Sir Paul Haddacks KCB and Lady Haddacks as our Patrons.

More than 350 patients each year are being cared for by the Hospice. This comes at a cost of over £3m per year, of which £500,000 is given to the Hospice by the Isle of Man government.

Most of the income comes from fundraising events, regular donations and legacies. Regional Committees raise over 50,000 and Hospice Shops raise more than £450,000. 90% of the income is spent directly on patients’ care. Only 10% is spent on administration.

All hospice services are provided totally free to patients and their families.

During the construction of the new Isle of Man hospice Manx Independent were involved in transporting lots of different commodities to enable the project to be completed on time. A. As well as working with the Building Contractors directly to ensure their loads of materials were transported from the UK to arrive on time we also worked directly with the staff of Hospice Isle of Man ensuring some of the more fragile internal fittings needed to complete the project arrived on site safely and secure.

Manx Independent have offered their services to Holland & Barrett for over twelve years. Holland & Barret benefit from the expertise offered by MIC in retail distribution. We collect their product from their Distribution Centre and ship it overnight to the Isle of Man for Next Day delivery. Deliveries have to made early in the morning to ensure their stock is available for the days trade.
