Victoria Pier damaged by "prop-wash"

15th June, 2010

A huge hole under the stone structure of the Victoria Pier was discovered during scheduled inspections by Department of Infrastructure divers, during TT fortnight.

The hole is thought to have been caused by 'prop-wash' from the Ben-my-Chree and the water jets of the Steam Packet Company's fast craft, Snaefell and Mannanan.

Director of Harbours Captain Mike Brew says it's a big job, but it will be done 'in house' by the departments own workers.
