Final resting place for Monas Queen anchor decided on.

31st May, 2011

THE anchor from the Steam Packet ship Mona's Queen which was recovered last year as part of the 70th anniversary commemoration of Operation Dynamo at Dunkirk will become a permanent memorial to all the Steam Packet seafarers who served in the Second World War

The Mona's Queen was one of three Steam Packet Company ships lost during the Dunkirk landings in 1940.

The anchor was recovered off the coast at Dunkirk in 2010 and transported by Manx Independent Carriers from France to be restored at Cammell Laird ship yard in Merseyside.

Shortly when preservation is complete the anchor will be returned by us to the Isle of Man on board the Ben My Chree to the final resting place in Port St Mary
